07. Elegia de Vallvidrera (IV)

Elegy Of Vallvidrera (IV)

Now I can say: I am at the fountain and drink,
I drink until I die
of thirst from wanting more and not knowing what,
which, indeed, is the way one does not die entirely:
living permanently in need of something.
                                                         Without
need, what would we become,
those to whom the privilege was given
of the holy madness of being canticle,
blustering wind, fire
that destroys itself, while the things
that it touched remain rescued and purer.
Oh, enlightened! Our humble task:
to fully open the ears
to the primeval chant
                              and decline.

(versió de Salvador Pila)
